There are Other Fish in the Sea

On 27 March, we unveiled SUPERFLEX’s new work There Are Other Fish in the Sea on the east façade of Kunsthal Spritten. The banner frames the building’s architecture with an ambiguous statement, offering passers-by and visitors something to reflect on. The unveiling also marks a new chapter in the kunsthal’s public art programme.

There Are Other Fish in the Sea speaks to both hope and plurality — a reminder of relationships, ecosystems, and the possibility of finding new paths beyond any fixed framework. Installed on the façade, the work brings art directly into the urban landscape, even as construction continues. It is our hope that the piece can open up dialogue during a time of transformation. There should be room for all species. And who knows — perhaps the best idea might come from a fish.

SUPERFLEX

SUPERFLEX is a danish artist collective founded in 1993 by Bjørnstjerne Christiansen, Jakob Fenger and Rasmus Rosengren Nielsen. SUPERFLEX often works as an expanded collective across disciplines, frequently involving local communities; their practice ranges from sculptures and infrastructure to social experiments. In more recent works, SUPERFLEX has also engaged other species in the creative process, with the aim of imagining a new form of urbanism based on coexistence.

Kunsthal Spritten presents the work as part of an international collaboration with Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, opening up new perspectives on art and coexistence.
