B19 — KAFFeFAIR

All guests to Kunsthal Spritten can look forward to visiting the new café concept B19, developed in collaboration with KAFFeFAIR in Aalborg. The social enterprise is known for combining delicious food, made from honest, organic ingredients, with a strong commitment to social responsibility.

B19  is named after the listed workshop building, that has the number nineteen hanging on the facade, where the new canteen is located. B19 will become a natural extension of the visitor experience at Kunsthal Spritten, but it will of course also be possible to visit B19 without an entrance ticket.

KAFFeFAIR, which is operated by FOKUS Folkeoplysning, uses seasonal ingredients from local producers to make food from scratch. At the same time KAFFeFAIR also functions as a vocational training programme, giving young people and unemployed individuals the opportunity to develop their skills and gain experience in the labour market. The partnership between Kunsthal Spritten and KAFFeFAIR will strengthen this aspect of KAFFeFAIR's work and allow B19 to be a place where the various social dimensions of sharing meals can develop further, not least via the interaction with art.

"B19 will be a space for meeting and a workplace with room for difference and diversity. For that reason we are partnering with a business that has for more than 20 years demonstrated a commitment to just that." explains Bibi Henriksen Saugman and Signe Cecilie Jochumsen from Kunsthal Spritten.

Bjørn Salling, Director of KAFFeFAIR, elaborates on the collaboration with Kunsthal Spritten:

“We are committed to being a good workplace and a good place to learn for our students - values that we share with Kunsthal Spritten.” He continues: "Food and drink is not just fuel. They are also about community and conversation. In that way, there is also a clear connection to the educational programmes that KAFFeFAIR is grounded in. We are incredibly excited to open the doors and to welcome the first guests."

FOKUS Folkeoplysning and KAFFeFAIR have been selected as examples of Det Obelske Familiefond's "sociale fyrtårne" ["social beacons"] in Northern Jutland and are thus recognised as institutions, that build communities, distinguish themselves, and lead the way for others in their field.
